IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa softball team concludes fall action this weekend with three contests at Pearl Field. The Hawkeyes host Kirkwood Community College on Friday night at 6 p.m. before facing Concordia-St. Paul in a doubleheader on Sunday (1 and 3 p.m.).
Iowa has outscored its last two opponents, 32-0. The Hawkeyes dominated Iowa Central Community College on Oct. 5 at Pearl Field, 20-0, in eight innings. The home team scored in the first seven innings and sophomore Megan Blank hit a grand slam in the second.
The Hawkeyes blanked Muscatine Community College on Sept. 28 in their fall home opener, 12-0, in eight innings. Senior Chelsea Lyon, freshman Micaela Whitney and junior Kayla Massey shut down the MCC offense.
Iowa opened fall play with the Black & Gold Scrimmage on Sept. 14, before traveling to Cedar Falls, Iowa, Sept. 22-23 to compete in the annual Big Four Classic. The Hawkeyes defeated Iowa State, 6-3, and fell to Drake, 3-1, on the opening day on Saturday. Iowa fell to host UNI on Sunday, 4-3.
