Hawkeyes Post Top-5 Scores in Record Books

HOUSTON — Two University of Iowa women’s divers posted two scores that rank among the top-five scores in school history on the second day of the Zone D Diving Championships at the UH Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium in Houston.

During the 1-meter final competition, junior Abby Grilli accumulated a point total of 537.80 to collect an 11th place showing for the Hawkeyes. Her point total ranks third in the Iowa record books. Junior Lauren Kelba finished with 525.05 points in the event to finish 15th. Her score ranks fourth in school history. Both scores mark collegiate bests.

During the preliminary round of the 1-meter competition, redshirt sophomore Joelle Christy accumulated a score of 244.60.

Action resumes tomorrow at 11 p.m. with the women’s platform competition.
