Hawkeyes Wrap Up Spring Break Competition

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Iowa women’s rowing team concluded action over Spring Break by facing the University of San Diego on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas on Sunday. The two schools competed in four events in tough conditions, with winds gusting to nearly 30 miles per hour.

Action started in the Novice 8, with San Diego taking first place in 7:03.2. Iowa finished second with a time of 7:22.8.

Next up was the Varsity 4, with Iowa finishing second in 7:45.2. Competition continued with the 2V8 and Iowa finished behind San Diego in 7:00.7.

The final race of the day was the Varsity 8. San Diego took first in 6:29.2, with Iowa in second at 6:47.6.

“We knew progress would be in fits and starts and this is certainly the former,” head coach Steve Pritzker said. “We hope that this weekend will help us to learn what type of team we want to be.”

Iowa returns to action on March 30 in East Lansing, Mich., taking on Michigan State and Notre Dame.
