PELLA, Iowa – The University of Iowa track and field team claimed three titles at the Central Invite on Thursday afternoon. The event was held at the Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella, Iowa.
The Hawkeye women swept the top four places in the women’s discus. Senior Majesty Tutson took the title when she recorded a toss of 164-5 (50.11m). Freshman Dakotah Goodell’s toss of 147-2 (44.86m) earned her a second-place finish, while junior Courtney Fritz (143-6; 43.73m) and sophomore Amanda Stahle (142-10; 43.54m) finished third and fourth, respectively.
Sophomore Annemie Smith (187-2; 57.06m) and junior Ashlyn Gulvas (179-11; 54.85m) finished first and second, respectively, in the women’s hammer throw. Sophomore Chelsea Colpitts and freshman Dakotah Goodell each recorded personal best marks in the event. Colpitts finished fourth with a mark of 153-1 (46.67m), while Goodell earned a sixth-place finish (145-5; 43.33m).
Gabe Hull claimed the men’s discus title. The sophomore recorded a toss of 186-5 (56.82m).
The Hawkeyes return to action Friday at the Stanford Invite in Palo Alto, Calif.
