LINCOLN, Neb. — Despite individual Hawkeye season-highs, the University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team could not overcome the defending Big Ten Champions. The 10th-ranked Huskers earned a season-best on Senior Night, defeating the Hawkeyes, 197.675-194.950.

Freshman Alie Glover placed third in the all-around competition with a 38.925. Nebraska sophomore Jessie DeZiel and junior Emily Wong tied for the title (39.675). Sophomore Emma Willis placed fifth (38.350), and sophomore Sydney Hoerr finished sixth (38.150).

Iowa started the meet on bars, while Nebraska took the vault. Seniors Emma Stevenson and Kaitlynn Urano posted season-highs in the rotation. Stevenson led the way with 9.875, and Urano earned 9.825. Hoerr scored 9.850, while Glover and senior Maya Wickus contributed a pair of 9.775s. Iowa tallied its third highest bar score of the season (49.100), while Nebraska totaled a season-best 49.400 on the vault.

Iowa put up only five competitors on vault and posted 48.750. Wickus paced the Hawkeyes, tying her season-best 9.850. Freshman Kyra Trowbridge earned 9.775 with a stuck landing. Glover and Willis scored 9.750, and Hoerr added 9.625. Meanwhile, Nebraska totaled 49.625 on the bars, led by senior Janelle Giblin’s perfect 10.000.

In the third rotation, Iowa tallied 49.000, led by Stevenson’s 9.875. Trowbridge earned 9.850, Urano posted 9.800, and Glover contributed 9.775. Iowa also counted Willis’ score (9.700), though she stepped out-of-bounds on a difficult Arabian double front tumbling pass. Nebraska scored 49.225 on beam, paced by 9.875s from Deziel and Giblin.

Iowa finished on the beam, while Nebraska concluded on floor. The Hawkeyes posted 48.075, led by Urano’s 9.725. Glover started the lineup with 9.625, sophomore Caitlin Tanzer anchored with 9.675, and Trowbridge contributed 9.625. Iowa was forced to count a shaky routine from Hoerr (9.425) due to a fall from Willis (9.225).

The GymHawks return to Carver-Hawkeye Arena to host Iowa State on Friday. The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series matchup is slated to start at 7 p.m. (CT). Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. The competition, which concludes Iowa’s homestand, will honor the seniors for their dedication to the program.
