IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa women’s tennis players Ruth Seaborne and Morven McCulloch advanced to the second round of the Gold Flight Doubles bracket at the Gopher Invitational on Friday.
The No. 28-ranked doubles team in the country earned an 8-1 victory over South Dakota’s Rymma Maslova and Dragana Brankovic.
The Hawkeyes face Diana Davitaia and Maria Paula Ribero of Eastern Michigan at 9 a.m. (CT) Saturday at the Baseline Tennis Center.
McCulloch also earned a win in the “M” Flight Singles bracket. She lost to Wisconsin’s Sydney Rider, 1-6, 6-3, (10-6), in the first round, before topping Faith Lee of North Dakota, 6-3 and 6-3, in the consolation bracket.
McCulloch resumes singles’ play tomorrow at 12 p.m. (CT).
