IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s tennis players Ruth Seaborne and Morven McCulloch earned a second place finish on Sunday at the Gopher Invitational.
Iowa’s top duo team was defeated, 9-7, by Eastern Michigan’s Klara Supejova and Nino Mebuke in the championship round in the Gold Flight Doubles bracket.
In singles’ action, Klara Supejova of Eastern Michigan defeated McCulloch, 6-1 and 6-3, in a battle for ninth place in the “M” Flight Single bracket.
Ruth Seaborne also competed in singles’ play on Sunday. The senior defeated Iowa State’s Ana Gasparaovic, 6-3 and 6-2, in an independent singles match.
Seaborne and McCulloch are scheduled to head to Pacific Palisades, California to compete at the ITA All-American Championships on Sept. 28.
