GREENSVILLE, S.C. — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team came away with a pair of wins on the final day of competition at the Furman Fall Classic. Caitlin Hindmarsh and Ellen Silver each picked up a singles victory for the Hawkeyes at the Mickel Tennis Center on Sunday.
In singles play, junior Ellen Silver defeated Furman’s Blair Martin, 6-1, 6-4, to take seventh place in the Flight Four Singles bracket. Sophomore Caitlin Hindmarsh also earned a seventh place finish after she defeated Katherine Oudin of Furman, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, in the Flight Two Singles bracket. The two combined for the Hawkeyes only victories on Sunday.
Next up for the Hawkeyes is a trip to New Haven, Conn. for the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Yale University. The three-day tournament will take place on Oct. 4 through the 6.
