IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s tennis players Shelby Talcott and Ruth Seaborne fell short at the ITA Central Regionals on Sunday.
After earning a victory in the round of 16 against Oklahoma’s Morgan Chumney, 7-6(5), 6-4, junior Shelby Talcott fell in a quarterfinals matchup with Kanyapat Narattana of Oklahoma State, 6-2, 6-3.
Senior Ruth Seaborne, the nations No. 65-ranked singles player, fell in the round of 16 to Megan McCray also of Oklahoma State. After taking the first set 6-3, Seaborne fell in sets two and three, 6-2, 6-4.
“We played a lot of quality matches this weekend and came out with both good results and things to improve on,” said UI head coach Katie Dougherty. “We’ll look to finish the fall strong next weekend at Drake.”
The Hawkeyes travel to Des Moines next weekend to compete in the Round Robin Invitational hosted by Drake. The three-day tournament begins on Oct. 28.
