Anna Kim to Join Women’s Golf Program

July 9, 2014

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Anna Kim has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa this fall, UI head coach Megan Menzel announced Wednesday.

“The University of Iowa offers many great opportunities for academics and golf, and I believe that guidance from coach Menzel and coach (Todd) Selders will help me to develop further as a student-athlete,” said Kim. “I am truly blessed to be a part of the Iowa women’s golf team and excited for the next chapter of my life.”

“We are very happy that Anna has chosen Iowa,” said Menzel. “We love that she comes from a four-time state championship high school program. She brings with her an outstanding work ethic, and we look forward to Anna making an immediate impact to our lineup this fall.”

Kim, a graduate of Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was a first-team and academic all-conference selection all four years of her high school career. In addition, she won nine individual tournament titles while at Union and was named all-state following her senior campaign.

Kim placed second in the 2013 AJGA Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Championship and received the Scotty Cameron award for the lowest round score on the final day of the event. In 21 AJGA events, Kim earned one top-three finish, two top-five finishes, 14 top-ten finishes and 16 top-12 finishes. She is a three-time winner of the Optimist International Junior State Qualifier (2010, 2011, 2012), and earned tournament victories at the 2011 Big “I” State Qualifier and the 2010 Starburst Junior Classic.

She is ranked in the top 100 players in the class of 2014 in the AJGA Polo Rankings and Junior Golf Scoreboard.
