FALMOUTH, Mass. — Former University of Iowa All-American Diane Nukuri won the 43rd New Balance Falmouth Road Race on August 16.
The Pickering, Ontario, native crossed the seven-mile mark in 36:47, finishing 23 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Sara Hall (37:10). Ethiopian Sentayehu Ejigu rounded out the top three (37:26).
Nukuri was a three-time All-American at Iowa from 2006-08. She won the 2007 Big Ten cross country championship and was named NCAA Midwest Region women’s cross country athlete of the year from 2006-07. She won the Big Ten 5,000 meter outdoor title in 2008, and held eight school records when she graduated.
She is also a former Olympian, having represented Burundi at the 2012 London Games.
