LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team concluded action at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational on Wednesday, jumping three spots to finish fourth in the 14-team field. The Hawkeyes posted a final round 288 (E) for a three-round total of 886 (+22).

Brigham Young (-5) took first place followed by host New Mexico State in second (E) and Idaho in third (+21).
“The team played very well today and this whole week was a great team effort,” said UI head coach Megan Menzel. “We had an uphill climb and the team responded really well to the challenge. Amy had a great day today and she continues to be such a great leader for this team.”
Senior Amy Ihm recorded the best round of the day for the Hawkeyes, firing a 69 for a three-round 217 (+1). The senior built on her second round momentum, sinking birdies on holes four, seven, 12 and 14 in the third round. Ihm carded nine birdies throughout the tournament, helping her to a seventh place finish.
Junior Jessie Sindlinger posted the second best finish for Iowa, carding an even par 72 in the final round for a three-round total to 218 (+2). She posted an impressive 45 holes at or below par over the course of the tournament to tie for eighth place.
Sophomore Jessica Ip posted an even par 72 on the final day. She registered par on 12 holes and birdies on holes two, 15 and 16. Ip carded a three round 222 (+6), posting rounds of 75, 75 and 72. She climbed 10 spots from Tuesday, ending the tournament tied for 16th.
Sophomore Elisa Suarez stayed consistent, carding a final round 75 (+3), matching her second round total. She tied for 40th with a three-round 229 (+13).
Rounding out the Hawkeye squad is Kristin Glesne. The freshman carded a third-round 76 (+4) and finished 45th with a three-round total of 230 (+14).
The Hawkeyes conclude their fall slate at the Pinehurst Challenge in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on Oct. 12-13.
“It is a quick turn around and we are hoping to get the team some rest and then build on the momentum from today,” said Menzel. “Pinehurst will be a great trip and we are looking forward to playing such a historic course.”
