The duo finished with 281.70 points. Australia’s Ester Quin and Samantha Mills won the gold with 310.80 points.

Freeman also finished eighth on the 3-meter individually with 306.30 points in semifinal B. Only three divers from each of the two semifinals advanced to the finals.

Both Freeman and fellow American Laura Ryan’s scores were higher than all scores from semifinal A, which was won by China’s Lin Qu with 301.85 points. Divers were placed into one of two semifinals based on results from the preliminaries.

The top 12 divers from the preliminaries advanced to the semifinals, with odd-placing finishers competing in one semifinal and even-placing finishers in the other. Ryan was seventh and Freeman ninth in the preliminaries.

On Oct. 23-24, Freeman advanced to the semifinals at the FINA Grand Prix meet in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She finished with a score of 237.90 to finish sixth in her 3-meter semifinal and 10th place overall. The top three divers from each semifinal advanced to the finals.

Freeman will return to action from Dec. 15-20 at the USA Diving Winter National Championships in Indianapolis. The event will serve as the selection event for next year’s FINA Diving World Cup.
