FLOSPORTS TO RELEASE FIRST FEATURE-LENGTH FILM
ON LEGENDARY IOWA WRESTLING COACH Terry Brands
Inaugural film marks the official debut of FloFilms
AUSTIN, Texas — On Wednesday, Dec. 30, FloSports will release its first feature-length film, Terry, chronicling the emotional decade-long Olympic journey of American wrestler Terry Brands.
Brands, University of Iowa wrestling’s associate head coach, is a former Olympian whose fiery and enigmatic style have earned him icon status in the sports world.
“We’re proud to debut Terry as our first feature film,” FloSports co-founder and CEO Martin Floreani said. “We believe there is no better subject to begin with than Terry Brands, whose dark journey speaks to the drama of competing at the highest levels.”
Brands, the identical twin of University of Iowa wrestling head coach Tom Brands, is a two-time World Champion and 2000 Olympic bronze medalist in Sydney. In his 18th season with the acclaimed Hawkeyes wrestling program, Brands was a two-time NCAA Champion and three-time All-American before graduating in 1992.
This retrospective examination of Terry’s successes and failures is set against the exhilarating backdrop of the 2015 US Open in Las Vegas, as Terry guides protégé and Olympic hopeful Tony Ramos in his second year of international competition.
Terry will be the official debut of FloFilms, a division within FloSports responsible for the production and editing of all documentary content across its network of sites.
“Every coach, every team, and every athlete has a unique narrative, and what you see on the mat, in the gym or on the field is only one small part of their journey,” FloSports chief creative officer Ray Machuca said. “The aim of FloFilms is to shine a light on these untold stories, and Terry is a perfect illustration of our mission.”
Terry will be available on FloWrestling.com exclusively to FloPRO subscribers. To become a FloPRO member, users must sign up for a monthly ($20/month) or annual subscription ($150/year), which offers access to all of FloWrestling’s live events, replays of live streams, rankings, a library of technique videos and numerous original documentaries.
