EMERSON, Ga. — Nebraska Omaha scored the game’s final three runs to rally for a 3-2 victory over the University of Iowa baseball team Friday afternoon in the opening game of the Spring Swing at LakePointe.
Iowa jumped on UNO starter Tyler Fox in the first, scoring two runs on three hits to grab the early lead. Senior Joel Booker led off the game with a bunt single before scoring on a one-out, two-run home run from senior Nick Roscetti to make the score 2-0.

The Hawkeyes managed just two hits the rest of the way against Fox and two Maverick relievers. Fox (3-1) earned the win, allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings. He had eight strikeouts to one walk in the game. Iowa had two runners on in the ninth against UNO’s Ryan Cate, but the closer got a groundout to end the game and record his third save.
Omaha scored single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, and all three runs were charged to UI starter C.J. Eldred. The Mavs got RBI singles from Collin Leif and Cate in the fifth and sixth before Leif roped a two-out RBI triple to right field to give Omaha the lead in the seventh.
Eldred (1-1) allowed three runs on 10 hits over six innings, while fanning five. Freshman Zach Daniels and Nick Allgeyer pitched the seventh and eighth, surrendering one hit and striking out a pair.
Iowa (4-7) returns to action Saturday, facing Seton Hall at 3:30 p.m. (CT).
