Maishe Dailey Signs With Hawkeyes

May 4, 2016

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa head men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery announced today that Maishe Dailey has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa. Dailey becomes the fifth member of Iowa’s 2016 recruiting class, joining Jordan Bohannon, Tyler Cook, Ryan Kriener, and Cordell Pemsl.

Dailey (6-foot-6, 180 pounds) hails from Beachwood, Ohio, and played his prep basketball at Beachwood High School. He helped his high school team win 22 games and advance to the Division III district finals in Ohio in 2016. As a senior, Dailey averaged 14 points (64% FG and 41% 3-pt FG), 6.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists as a senior, earning Division III Second Team honors by the Associated Press. He totaled 24 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in an MVP effort in The News-Herald Classic on April 2, 2016. He also competed on the All-Ohio Red AAU team, the same squad as Iowa sophomore Ahmad Wagner.

“The thing that impresses me the most about Maishe is his overall skillset,” said McCaffery. “He’s a multiple position player who can drive, pass, shoot, and handle the ball. He has tremendous athletic ability who can play above the rim. He can play an up-tempo game, but also has enough skill to play in the half-court. Maishe is a young man with impeccable character and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Hawkeye family.”

“I’m really excited about my future at the University of Iowa,” said Dailey. “I love how much I fit with their playing style offensively and defensively.

“What I like best other than the basketball and the academics at Iowa, is the incredible amount of fan support. When I announced my commitment to Iowa, Hawkeye fans swarmed and welcome me with open arms. You can’t do anything but dream of having a fan base like the University of Iowa.”
