GymHawks Face Off Against No. 14 California

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 21 University of Iowa women's gymnastics team fell to the No. 14 California-Berkeley 195.550-194.400 on Sunday inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 21 University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team fell to No. 14 California-Berkeley 195.550-194.400 on Sunday inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
 
Three GymHawks earned first-place titles to highlight the competition.
 
Freshman Charlotte Sullivan won the all-around for the second consecutive meet with a score of 38.275.
 
The GymHawks registered the highest team event score of the night on uneven bars with a 48.950. Senior Angel Metcalf won the event with a score of 9.900. Junior Melissa Zurawski tied her personal best with a 9.875, while senior Mollie Drenth recorded a 9.850. Senior Lexi Mura posted her career best with a score of 9.750.
 
Iowa posted an event score of 48.725 on vault. Drenth and junior Zurawski led the Hawkeyes with scores of 9.775. Sullivan and sophomore Maria Ortiz followed closely behind their teammates with scores of 9.750.
 
The Hawkeyes recorded with a team event score of 48.725 on floor. Freshman Clair Kaji tied for first overall with a score of 9.825. Metcalf and Zurawski followed tied for fourth with scores of 9.775.
 
Iowa went on to score a 48.800 on beam. Metcalf led Iowa on beam with a score of 9.775. Senior Savannah Borman and Kaji registered scores of 9.700 and 9.650, respectively.
 
The GymHawks return to action next Saturday against No. 18 Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, at 4:00 p.m. (CT).
