COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Senior Aaron Mallett and junior Brittany Brown qualified for the second day of the NCAA Indoor Championships inside Gilliam Indoor Stadium on Friday.

Mallett and Brown entered the day ranked in the top five of their respective events. Mallett qualified in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.71 and Brown qualified in the 200-meters with a time of 22.86.

A false start in the field delayed the beginning of the 60-meter hurdles, but Mallett kept his composure during the race as he finished third in his heat and sixth overall. This marks his third straight NCAA indoor finals appearance.

It was neck and neck to the finish line for Brown in the 200-meters. She finished second in her heat and is seeded fifth for tomorrow’s finals.

Sophomore Mar’yea Harris narrowly missed qualifying for the 400-meters final. His time of 46.52 was .03 seconds shy of a top-eight finish.

Mallett and Brown join the men’s 4×400-meter relay set to race tomorrow. Mallett kicks things off for the Hawkeyes in the 60-meter hurdles at 5:10 p.m. (CT). The event will be streamed live on ESPN3.
