INDIANAPOLIS — University of Iowa senior Emma Sougstad opened competition at the NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday at the IU Natatorium. She placed 32nd in the preliminaries of the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.50.
Sougstad will return to the pool Friday, competing in the 100-yard breaststroke. She had the 12th-fastest time in the country heading into the championships.
