TUCSON, Arizona – A trio of Hawkeyes finished their first heptathlon of their careers with all three setting all-time marks in Iowa history during the second day of competition at the Jim Click Shootout.

Freshmen Jenny Kimbro and Allison Wahrman and sophomore Tria Seawater-Simmons completed the heptathlon on Friday with the long jump, javelin throw, and 800 meters taking place at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

Kimbro finished third overall with 5,121 points, Seawater-Simmons was eighth with 4,928 points, and Wahrman placed 15th with 4,315 points. Kimbro earned 2 points toward Iowa’s team score.

All-three point totals crack Iowa’s all-time top-10 with Kimbro leading in third, Seawater-Simmons in fifth, and Wahrman landing in 10th. Kimbro now leads the Big Ten and is 17th in the nation while Seawater-Simmons is second in the conference and Wahrman is fifth.

It was Kimbro’s day during the final three events, leading Iowa in the long jump, javelin throw, and 800 meters.

She recorded a mark of 5.79 meters (18 feet, 11 ¾ inches) during the long jump to place fifth followed by Seawater-Simmons one spot behind her in sixth, notching a mark of 5.75 meters (18 feet ¼ inches), and Wahrman was 12th (5.43 meters, 17 feet, 9 ¾ inches).

In the Javelin Throw, Kimbro posted a throw of 31.01m (101 feet, 8 ¾ inches) for 11th, Wahrman’s 29.14 meters (95 feet, 7 inches) earned her 13th place and Seawater-Simmons’ 25.41 meter throw (83 feet, 4 inches ¼) was 16th overall.

The Hawkeyes’ strongest event was the 800 meters where they had two athletes finish in the top five. Kimbro ran 2:26.11 for fourth, Seawater-Simmons’ 2:26.34 effort was fifth, and Wahrman finished 16th with a time of 2:39.64.

This is the second time this season that Kimbro and Wahrman have placed in Iowa’s all-time list following a multi-event competition. During the indoor season, the duo placed third and seventh, respectively, all-time in the pentathlon following their performances at the Black & Gold Premier and Larry Wieczorek Invitational.

Iowa returns to competition tomorrow to complete the Jim Click Shootout. The first event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (CT) with the women’s hammer throw. Running events will commence at 2:30 p.m. with the men’s 110 meter high hurdles.
