HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 (25-19) | With the score tied 4-4, Iowa used a 12-3 run to take the lead. The Hawkeyes never looked back, leading by as much as 16-7 and eventually securing a 1-0 match advantage. Claire Sheehan led Iowa with six kills and five digs.

Set 2 (25-19) | Trailing 8-7 after a back-and-forth start, Iowa used a 6-2 run to take the lead and did not trail again, taking a 2-0 match lead. Louis led Iowa with seven kills and a .600 attack percentage.

Set 3 (25-16) | Holding an 8-6 lead, Iowa went on 7-0 run — with three kills from Louis — to extend the advantage before a Claire Sheehan ace clinched the 3-0 match sweep.

HEAR FROM COACH SHYMANSKY
“Taylor Louis was great out there tonight. She was physically dominant for the Hawkeyes. It was nice to see a great rhythm going between her and our setter, Brie Orr. Claire Sheehan backed up another nice day for us after a great morning match and put 30 kills up in the two matches. It’s good that our outside hitters are clicking. I like what we have going right now with our middles and that slide tempo. It was a great weekend for us to come out 3-0, and now we jump on a plane and get back to Iowa City and really get ready for the daunting Big Ten slate that’s coming towards us.”

NOTABLES

  • This season’s 11-2 start is the program’s best since 2006 when the Hawkeyes also started with an 11-2 record.

  • Annika Olsen registered 15 digs. This is her 12th match this season with double-digit digs.
