IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa softball team defeated Des Moines Area Community College, 6-1, on Sept. 15 in its fall opener at Pearl Field.
Allison Doocy led the Hawkeyes in the circle, throwing 11 strikeouts and allowing just one run on three hits in six innings.
Freshman Aralee Bogar was 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored, while Havyn Monteer was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Daniella Ibarra chipped in a double and scored a run. Four other Hawkeyes — Cheyenne Pratt, Devin Cantu, Mallory Kilian, and Allie Wood — also had hits.
The Hawkeyes return to Pearl Field hosting Kirkwood on Friday at 5 p.m. (CT). Admission is free.
