MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — University of Iowa senior Montana Crawford and freshman Danielle Burich dropped an 8-4 decision on Friday in the Round of 16 at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
The duo lost to Maryann Rompf and Sara Castellano of Wisconsin. Hawkeye freshman Yufei Long and junior Adorabol Huckleby are the No. 3 seed in the doubles bracket and earned a bye to the quarterfinals, which begin Friday at 4 p.m. (CT).
Burich, Crawford, Huckleby and Long compete the singles Round of 32 on Friday at 10 a.m. Long is seeded seventh entering the tournament. Winners from the Round of 32 advance to the quarterfinals at 2 p.m.
The singles champion will earn a wild card berth into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Tournament in Indian Wells, Calif.
