SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Jonas Larsen and Piotr Smietana represented the University of Iowa men’s tennis team on the second day of the Bobby Bayliss Invitational at the Eck Tennis Pavillion on the campus of Notre Dame.
Smietana lost his opening match of the day to Matt Gamble from Notre Dame, 6-0, 6-4.
Larsen lost his first match to Chris Patzanovsky, the Memphis product, but came back to beat Big Ten foe Abhijeet Joshi from Northwestern, 6-7, 6-2, 10-5.
Smietana dropped his next match to Notre Dame’s Tristan McCormick, 6-3, 6-3.
“Jonas finally got a win in his second match after losing a couple close matches,” said Iowa head coach Ross Wilson. “Piotr struggles to produce at the same level he did yesterday, but he has chance to redeem himself tomorrow.”
The Hawkeyes will conclude action at the Bobby Baliss Invitational on Sunday. Fans can follow results on the official twitter account of Hawkeye Tennis (@IowaMensTennis).
