SOUTH BEND, Indiana — In the track and field team’s final meet before the Big Ten Indoor Championships, the Hawkeyes set a new school record in the men’s distance medley relay at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

In addition, four Hawkeyes set personal best in the 400 meters, two set lifetime bests in the 800 meters, and, one set a personal best in the mile.

SCHOOL RECORD
The Hawkeyes’ record-setting distance medley relay was run by sophomore Nathan Mylenek (1,200 meters), sophomore Collin Hofacker (400 meters), senior Carter Lilly (800 meters), and senior Michael Melchert (1,600 meters) to a time of 9:33.9. They finished 10th.

They bested the previous record of 9:44.07 set at last year’s Big Ten Indoor Championships, a race Lilly ran the lead leg on.

400 METERS
Four Hawkeyes set personal best in the 400 meters. Freshman Raymonte Dow won the men’s race with a time of 48.43.

  • Mallory king: 56.01, 4th place
  • Addie Swanson: 56.97, 9th place
  • Lindsay Welker: 1:00.85, 11th place
  • Raymonte Dow: 48.43, 1st place

800 METERS
In the 800 meters two more Hawkeyes set lifetime best times.

  • Macie Weber: 2:16.64, 10th place
  • Kevin Docherty: 1:53.31, 5th place

MILE
Junior Madison Waymire set a personal best in the mile. She bested her previous time by a second with a time of 4:57.23 on her way to a sixth place finish in the event.
