Former Hawkeye Steven Ihm Qualifies for PGA Tour Event

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former University of Iowa men’s golfer Steven Ihm qualified for this weekend’s AT&T Byron Nelson Open, which will begin Thursday at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.

Ihm qualified for the PGA Tour event after shooting a five-under-par 67 at Gentle Creek Country Club in Prosper, Texas on Monday. The native of Peosta, Iowa, was in a four-way tie for third place and qualified after birding the first hole of the playoff.

Ihm became the first three-time All-Big Ten honoree in Iowa men’s golf history (2011-14). Ihm won four tournament titles, joining Lonnie Nielsen (six), Brad Klapprott (four), and Sean McCarty (four) as the only Hawkeyes to earn four or more medalist honors. Ihm owns the second (71.45 in 2014) and third (72.3 in 2013) best scoring averages in school history.

Ihm made his professional PGA debut in the 2014 John Deere Classic, finishing in a tie for 27th at 10-under-par.
