IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa baseball team downed the Ontario Blue Jays, 12-7, on Friday night at Duane Banks Field. The game went 10 innings.
The Hawkeyes finished with six hits in the game and took advantage of six Ontario errors. Sophomore Izaya Fullard posted a two-hit game, finishing 2-for-4, while sophomore Matthew Sosa was 1-for-3 with a two-run double in the eighth.
Seven Iowa pitchers limited the Blue Jays to five hits and punched out 12. Junior Grant Leonard pitched two perfect innings, facing the minimum with one strikeout.
Iowa will hold its Scout Day on Sept. 28 before hosting Kirkwood Community College on Oct. 5 at Duane Banks Field.
