IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa Softball defeated Des Moines Area CC, 8-1, on Friday night at Bob Pearl Field.
Miranda Schulte reached base on four hits, including a double and two runs batted in. Aralee Bogar had a triple and RBI single in the 8th inning. Mallory Kilian added two hits and Elizabeth DeShields recorded a hit of her own.
The Hawkeyes rotated four pitchers throughout the contest. Allison Doocy pitched three innings, Sarah Lehman pitched three more, Miranda Schulte pitched two, and Erin Riding tossed one. Doocy earned five strikeouts, all looking. Lehman also tallied five strikeouts.
The Hawkeyes are in Ames next weekend, Sept. 29-30, where they will take on three in-state opponents, Drake, Iowa State, and UNI at the Big Four Classic. The Hawkeyes begin the Classic on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (CT) against UNI.
