IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior Kareem Allaf is ranked No. 73 in the country in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) final fall rankings released on Wednesday. Allaf is one of only seven Big Ten student-athletes ranked in the Top 75.
 
Allaf won 11 matches during fall individual competition, including a stretch a seven in a row during the month of October. The native of Dubai, UAE, captured the ITA Central Regional championship by virtue of winning six straight matches, including two over ranked opponents.Allaf, Iowa’s Male Athlete of the Month in October, became the third Hawkeye to accomplish the feat in school history, joining Bryan Crowley (1994) and Tyler Cleveland (1999). The regional title earned Allaf a berth in the Oracle Fall National Championships, a first for a Hawkeye since Cleveland in 1999.
 
Allaf and the Hawkeyes will open their team competitive season at home on Jan. 19, against Western Michigan and Marquette.
