GymHawks Conclude NCAA Regional

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The University of Iowa women's gymnastics team took fourth at the NCAA Corvallis Regional in session two with a score of 194.775. The GymHawks will not advance to the Regional final.

CORVALLIS, Ore. — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team took fourth at the NCAA Corvallis Regional in session two with a score of 194.775. The GymHawks will not advance to the Regional final. 

Florida (197.500) won the second session of the NCAA Corvallis Regional. 

Following Florida was Oregon State (197.125) and Stanford (196.075). Oregon State and Florida will advance to the NCAA Regional Final along with Boise State and Denver from session one. 

BARS 

The GymHawks started off on the uneven bars. Senior Nicole Chow scored a 9.800, junior Clair Kaji notched a 9.775, and sophomore Maddie Kampschroeder scored a 9.700. Freshman Jax Kranitz anchored bars with a 9.675.  

BEAM 

The GymHawks were on fire on the balance beam, scoring 49.000. Kaji scored a 9.875, while Chow scored 9.850. Freshman Bridget Killian scored a 9.775. Senior Misty-Jade Carlson and Sullivan both scored 9.750s.  

FLOOR 

Iowa earned its highest rotation score of the night, 49.150, on floor. Kaji scored a 9.875. Freshman Lauren Guerin and sophomore Erin Castle earned 9.850s. Freshman Allie Gilchrist scored a 9.800, and Killian notched a 9.775.  

VAULT 

The GymHawks ended the meet on vault. Carlson tied her season best of 9.800. Junior Charlotte Sullivan also tied a season best of 9.825. Guerin notched a 9.800.  

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:  

·       Senior Nicole Chow scored a 9.800 on bars.  

·       Kaji scored a 9.875 on beam, while Chow scored a 9.850.  

·       The GymHawks scored a 49.000 on beam and a 49.150 on floor. 

·       Kaji scored a 9.875 on floor.  

·       Freshman Lauren Guerin and sophomore Erin Castle both earned 9.850s on floor.

·       Sullivan (9.825) and Carlson (9.800) both tied season bests on vault.

The Corvallis Regional concludes the 2019 season for the GymHawks.
