IOWA CITY, Iowa — Incoming University of Iowa softball transfer Mia Ruther was named an NJCAA first-team All-American for the 2019 season.
Ruther, a junior from Burlington, Iowa, batted .580 with 88 runs scored, and 46 stolen bases while playing for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).
Ruther helped DMACC to a 52-8 record, including an appearance in the semifinals of the NJCAA Division II softball championships.
In addition, three more incoming transfers to Iowa from DMACC were named NJCAA Academic All-Americans: Avery Guy (second team), Jayci Vos (second team), Ruther (third team), and Morgan Lewis (third team).
The Iowa softball fall season begins Sept. 13 against DMACC at 5:30 p.m. (CT) at Bob Pearl Field. Admission is free. Visit hawkeyesports.com for the complete fall schedule.
