GymHawks Earn Season-High on Bars

Iowa City, Iowa -- The University of Iowa women's gymnastics team fell to the University of Minnesota Gophers, 195.475-194.350, on Saturday afternoon inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Iowa City, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team fell to the University of Minnesota Gophers, 195.475-194.350, on Saturday afternoon inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

With Carver-Hawkeye Arena decorated pink for the team’s annual pink meet, the GymHawks scored a season-high on bars.

“I am very pleased. I thought they did an excellent job. We can’t control what happens with the scores. The only thing we can control is feeling good about what they did, and I believe we did that.”

“We asked them to work on certain things, and they did those things. I have to believe that doing those things, and working on the details will pay off.”

VAULT
Junior Charlotte Sullivan competed her first vault of the season and notched a 9.525. Freshman Lauren Guerin contributed a score of 9.600. Senior Misty-Jade Carlson and Bridget Killian closed out vault with scores of 9.675.

BARS
With the highest rotation score of the meet, 48.950, four GymHawks in a row tied season bests, sophomores Emma Hartzler (9.775) and Maddie Kampschroeder (9.800), senior Nicole Chow (9.825) and Sullivan (9.825). Freshman Jax Kranitz ended the second rotation with a career best 9.725.

BEAM
The GymHawks kept their momentum going on the balance beam and scored a 48.850. Allie Gilchrist contributed a score of 9.725, Killian followed with a solid routine on beam, tallying a 9.800. Kaji displayed a dominant performance, contributing a score of 9.900. Vance followed with a 9.750.

FLOOR
The GymHawks continued to stand out on floor with sophomore Erin Castle starting off on floor with a 9.650. Killian scored a 9.775. Gilchrist followed with a 9.700. Kaji contributed a 9.775. Guerin closed out floor with a score of 9.725.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • The GymHawks scored a season-high on bars with a 48.950.
  • Jax Kranitz scored a career high on bars with a 9.725.
  • Four GymHawks tied season bests, Hartzler (9.775), Kampschroeder (9.800), Chow (9.825), Sullivan (9.825).
