Iowa City, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team defeated Rutgers, 194.575-191.625, on Saturday evening inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

With the arena packed for Larissa Libby night, the GymHawks recorded a season-high on bars (49.125) and on floor (48.900). Freshman Bridget Killian won vault (9.750) and beam (9.725), senior Nicole Chow won bars (9.900), and freshman Lauren Guerin won floor (9.875).

It’s never about how much they’re working or the effort they’re putting in. We have the right difficulty, we have the right people. We are just young and need a little bit more time.”

VAULT
The GymHawks started the meet on vault. Charlotte Sullivan scored a season best of 9.650. Misty-Jade Carlson contributed a 9.725, and Killian closed out vault, notching a 9.750.

BARS
The GymHawks gained momentum on bars with a season-high score of 49.125. Chow (9.900) and freshman Jax Kranitz (9.875) both contributed personal bests. Junior Clair Kaji (9.800) and sophomore Maddie Kampschroeder (9.825) added season bests as well.

BEAM
Iowa built its lead on beam. Freshman Allie Gilchrist scored a 9.700, while Killian contributed a 9.725. Kaji and Vance added a 9.675 and 9.625, respectively.

FLOOR
The GymHawks finished strong on floor with a season-high score of 48.900. Guerin tied a career high of 9.875 and Killian scored a career high of 9.800. Kaji captured a season best 9.825 and Sullivan made her season debut on floor, contributing a 9.750 as Iowa wrapped up its first Big Ten victory of the season.
