BOSTON, Massachusetts— The University of Iowa rowing team competed among some of the world’s best on Sunday at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts. The Charles is one of the World’s largest rowing events, with approximately 2,263 entries from 762 teams in attendance for the 55th edition this weekend.

The Hawkeyes were represented in the premier Women Championship 8+ and placed 16th and 12th among NCAA collegiate crews. Reigning World Championship bronze medalists from the US National Team won the event in near perfect conditions.

HEARING FROM HEAD COACH ANDREW CARTER

“It was certainly a challenging weekend for us this year.  Losing a critical member of our eight to injury during Friday’s practice really tested our team.  I have to hand it to these women, though.  They really got themselves in the right frame of mind and took a big swing at it.  We had a few hiccups on the course but I think the crew has a lot to be proud of with how they handled everything.”
