IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa swimming and diving team opened competition against Michigan State on Thursday at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa swimming and diving team opened competition against Michigan State on Thursday at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

The meet scored only the men’s 1-meter diving on Thursday, hosting 10 exhibition events between the Hawkeyes and Spartans.
 
Freshman Michael Huebner made his collegiate debut in the diving well, posting a first-place score of 293.70. The freshman edged out junior Anton Hoherz by .25 points. Hoherz was followed by fellow junior Jonatan Posligua with a score of 267.65. Freshman Mohamed Neuman rounded out Iowa’s placing at fourth with a score of 260.85.
 
In the exhibition events, the Hawkeyes took 9 of 10 events. Iowa also swept the top three spots in the men’s 50 back and 100 IM, along with the women’s 50 fly and 100 IM.

“We got a lot of racing in today in a short amount of time. Everyone gets a chance to swim certain events, and there’s only so much we can simulate in practice. It’s valuable to see this racing and these events to start off. This meet compliments the training we have going into the season and through February and March.”
 
UP NEXT
Action against the Spartans and Northern Iowa begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. (CT) in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Admission is free.
