Drkulec, Haus Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa seniors Hannah Drkulec and Kaleigh Haus have been named to the 2019 Academic All-District 6 Women’s Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, it was announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
 
As first team selections, both Haus and Drkulec advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.  The distinction recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
Drkulec, a defender from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, is majoring in biomedical engineering, where she carries a 4.09 grade point average.  On the field, Drkulec has started all 19 games, where she is tied for second on the team with five goals and has two assists. Defensively, she has helped the Hawkeyes post eight shutouts.
 
Haus, a forward from Des Moines, Iowa, is majoring in biomedical engineering, where she has a 4.07 grade point average.  Haus started 12 games before going down with a season-ending injury.  She finished the 2019 season with four goals and one assist.
 
It is the second straight year Drkulec and Haus earned Academic All-District honors.  Last season, Haus was a first-team Academic All-American, while Drkulec garnered second-team All-America honors.
 
The Hawkeyes enjoyed a stellar regular season, tying a single-season school record with 15 victories.  Iowa tied a school record with seven Big Ten wins to finish fifth in the regular season standings, which is tied for the second best league finish in program history.

The Hawkeyes will learn their NCAA Tournament fate Monday during the NCAA Selection Show at 3:30 p.m. (CT) on NCAA.com.
