IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Big Ten office announced Wednesday the University of Iowa senior Jaylan McConico has been named Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the week.
McConico was the highlight at the 2019 Jimmy Grant Invitational on Dec. 14. He set a new personal best 7.66 while taking first in the 60-meter hurdles. He jumped from fourth to second on Iowa’s all-time top 10 list. His time ranks No. 1 in the country for the 60-meter hurdles.
The weekly conference honor is the first of McConico’s career and the first for Iowa this season.
The Hawkeyes return to the UI Rec Building on Jan. 10-11 hosting the Hawkeye Invitational.
