IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Makenzie Meyer was named to the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Honor Roll for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Monday.
Meyer earned her second Big Ten weekly honor of the year in as many weeks and the Hawkeyes’ third. Senior Kathleen Doyle earned the Hawkeyes first honor on Nov. 25.
The Mason City, Iowa, native registered a game-high 24 points, shooting 9-for-14, while adding five assists and four rebounds in the Hawkeyes’ home victory over in-state foe Drake (Dec. 21).
Meyer and the Hawkeyes begin conference play on Dec. 28 on the road in Lincoln, Neb., as Iowa takes on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. (CT).
