Iowa City, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team fell to Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series foe and 26th-ranked Iowa State, 196.275-196.250, on Friday night inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa earned a season high score on vault of 48.950.

VAULT
The GymHawks started the meet hot on vault with a season-high score of 48.950.  Freshman Alex Greenwald led the GymHawks off with a career-best (9.700). Freshman Lauren Guerin followed suit with a career best of 9.825. Freshman Bridget Killian tied a career best of 9.825, senior Misty-Jade Carlson tied a season best of 9.800, and junior Charlotte Sullivan earned a 9.775.

BARS
Junior Clair Kaji began bars for the GymHawks with a 9.800. Freshman Mackenzie Vance earned a career high of 9.725. Sullivan notched a 9.825. Senior Nicole Chow contributed a 9.875, while freshman Jax Kranitz scored a 9.800.

BEAM
Carlson got the beam team started tying a career best with of 9.850. Chow contributed a 9.800, while Kaji and Killian both earned a 9.775. Sullivan scored a 9.750.

FLOOR
The GymHawks brought some energy to the floor, earning a 49.325. Kaji and Guerin both tied season bests of 9.900s, to tie for the event title. Sullivan tied a career best on floor with a 9.850. Castle earned a 9.850 and Killian notched a 9.825. Freshman Allie Gilchrist earned a 9.775.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • The GymHawks earned a season-high score on vault of 48.950.
  • Freshmen Alex Greenwald (9.700) and Lauren Guerin (9.825) both earned career bests on vault.
  • Senior Misty-Jade Carlson tied a season best with a 9.800 on vault.

  • Junior Clair Kaji and freshman Lauren Guerin each earned a 9.900 on floor to share the event title. Kaji tied a season best and Guerin tied a career high.  
  • Junior Charlotte Sullivan tied a career best on floor with a 9.850.
  • Sullivan tied a career high in the all-around competition with a 39.200.

The GymHawks travel to Seattle, Washington, to take on Washington and Sacramento State in a tri-meet on Friday, March 8, at 9 p.m. (CT).
