STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The University of Iowa women's gymnastics team fell to Penn State, 196.275-193.675 at Rec Hall on Saturday afternoon.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team fell to Penn State, 196.275-193.675 at Rec Hall on Saturday afternoon.
 
Leading the Hawkeyes against the Nittany Lions was sophomore Lauren Guerin, who score a 9.950 on floor for the second consecutive week. Guerin’s top mark ties her career best and third all-time mark in the Iowa record book.
 
BARS
The GymHawks started the meet off with a team score of 47.175. Freshman Allyson Steffensmeier led Iowa with a 9.825 and senior Clair Kaji followed with a score of 9.750.
 
VAULT
The GymHawks continued on vault, scoring 48.825. Sophomore Lauren Guerin led the Hawkeyes with a score of 9.825 to place second on the event. Freshman Ariana Agrapides and sophomore Bridget Killian followed each scoring a 9.800 to tie for third on the event.
 
FLOOR
Iowa’s floor rotation was the highest event score of the night. Lauren Guerin led with a score of 9.950 to tie here career best and third all-time in Iowa’s record book. Junior Erin Castle followed up with a 9.875, earning a season high.
 
BEAM
The final event for the Hawkeyes was beam. Sophomore Bridget Killian led the Hawkeyes with a 9.850 to take second place on the event, and sophomore Mackenzie Vance came in fifth with 9.775, and sophomore Allie Gilchrist and Dani Castillo tied for sixth place with 9.750.
 
UP NEXT
The GymHawks host Michigan State in Iowa City, Iowa, on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Carver-Hawkeye arena. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. (CT).
