The University of Iowa wrestling team travels to East Lansing, Michigan, to face Michigan State on Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT) at Jennison Field House.

THE SERIES — MICHIGAN STATE
Iowa leads the all-time series against Michigan State, 39-15-2. The Hawkeyes have won nine in a row, including a 44-0 victory in their last trip to East Lansing, Michigan on Jan. 8, 2017. The Hawkeyes have shutout the Spartans in three of the last four meetings (41-0 in 2013-14; 37-0 in 2014-15; 44-0 in 2016-17).
Iowa is 15-1-1 all-time against the Spartans in East Lansing. Michigan State’s last win in the series was in East Lansing on Feb. 5, 2006 (19-17).
Iowa head coach Tom Brands is 9-0 all-time against the Spartans.

KEMERER KNOCKS OFF NO. 1
Senior Michael Kemerer knocked off top-ranked Mark Hall of Penn State on Friday, 11-6. Kemerer scored a takedown in each period and add 1:21 of riding time to improve to 9-0 this season. In his last four duals, Kemerer has beat, in order, the No. 4, No. 6, No. 8, and No. 1 wrestlers in the country.

FORCEFUL-LEE
Junior Spencer Lee has recorded six straight technical falls and outscored those six opponents, 100-2. Lee enters Sunday’s dual ranked No. 1 at 125 with a 11-0 record. He has scored bonus points in each match, winning once by major decision, twice by fall, and eight times by technical fall.
Only five times this season has Lee wrestled into the second period. His two pins are both in under a minute, 0:54 and 0:52. He has four first-period technical falls, and the other three were in 3:13, 3:32, 3:16, and 3:16.

LUGO PICK UP WIN NO. 100
Senior Pat Lugo’s earned his 100th career win Jan. 31. He has a career record of 100-38, including a 63-18 mark at Edinboro from 2015-17, and a 37-10 mark at Iowa from 2018-20.
Lugo is 14-1 this season with six wins over ranked opponents, including three in the top seven. He is ranked No. 3 this week, and is 18-10 all-time against ranked opponents.
He spent three weeks at the No. 1 ranking after opening the season with a 13-0 record. The No. 1 billing was the first of Lugo’s career. He has spent all season in the top 5 after finishing the 2019 season with an eighth-place All-America finish. Prior to the 2019 national tournament, Lugo had not been ranked higher than 10th.

Junior Spencer Lee (19-0) and redshirt freshman Tony Cassioppi (6-0) are undefeated in their careers in Big Ten duals.
Among Lee’s 19 Big Ten dual wins are seven falls (five in the first period), eighth technical falls, and one major decision.
