IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s golf team signed Klara Wildhaber for the 2020-2021 academic year. Wildhaber is ranked in the top-400 in the world.
The Switzerland native recorded her first win over three rounds, shooting seven under par at the Championnat de Romande. She was a member of the Ladies European Team Championship in 2019, Girls European Team Championship in 2018, and competed in the Girls World Championship in 2018 where she finished 19th and one over par.
“We are so excited to welcome Klara to the Hawkeye family,” head coach Megan Menzel said. “To add a player of her caliber is huge for our team. It is no surprise that Klara continues to improve, she is a hard worker and has the desire to be the best. Klara comes in with great training from a talented Swiss National team and also has a great technical coach, Jeremy Freiburghaus. We are excited to add her to our up and coming roster and we know she will be a great addition to our program.”
Wildhaber finished top four of the of the Ladies European Tour Access Series, Belgium International, the Ticino Championship, and the Swiss National Championship. Her best finishes were second at the Ticino Championship and third at the Swiss Nationals.
“The reason I picked Iowa is because Coach Menzel, Coach Roters, and Iowa City made me feel so at home,” Wildhaber said. “For me it’s crucial to have people around me who support me, lift me up, and who are like-minded. I have no doubt that the University of Iowa is the place where I can find all of these things. The facilities are amazing too. Everyone was so welcoming on my visit and I knew this was the place for me.”
