IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) held the draft for 2021 ITA Kickoff Weekend on Monday. The 13th edition of the event will be held Jan. 22-25, 2021, with the University of Iowa men’s tennis team earning the No. 23 seed.
The Hawkeyes will play in the Columbus, Ohio, pod alongside fifth-ranked Ohio State, No. 24 Texas Tech, and 33rd-ranked Virginia. Iowa will square off against the Red Raiders for the fifth time in five seasons in the first round. The Hawkeyes bounced Texas Tech in the 2017 ITA Kickoff in Lubbock, Texas.
ITA Kickoff Weekend matches in Columbus are slated to be played Jan. 22-23, in the new Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The first day will feature matches between the No. 1 and No. 4 and No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, with the winners and losers facing off on day two.
In all, seven men’s sites will serve as hosts, with each site winner advancing to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, where they will be joined by the respective host site school to fill out the eight-team field.
