Jamal Britt Named B1G Track Athlete of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior Jamal Britt has been named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.

The weekly honor is the third for Britt this season, and the sixth for the Hawkeyes.

Britt was recognized for his performance at the Hawkeye Big Ten Invitational Feb. 12-13. He tied the school record in the men’s 60-meter hurdles, winning the event in 7.60. The time is the fastest in the Big Ten this season and ranks second in the country.

Britt also won the men’s long jump, landing 7.45 meters (24-5.5) on his opening jump, and placed third in the 200 meters in 21.58.

The Hawkeyes return to the track Feb. 25-27 at the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
