NAPLES, Fla. — The University of Iowa men’s golf team sits in eighth place at the Calusa Cup following Monday’s second round of competition at scenic Calusa Pines Golf Club.
The inaugural 54-hole tournament is hosted by the Hawkeyes and features some of the highest ranked competition in collegiate golf.
Fifth-year senior Alex Schaake posted Iowa’s strongest performance on Monday, sinking three consecutive birdies on the back nine and a total of four on the day. His even-par second round brings him to 4-over on the week, good for a 20th place tie on the individual leaderboard.
No. 2 Oklahoma heads into the final round in first place at 1-over par (577). No. 41 Georgia Tech is in second place ahead of four other top 15 teams.

HAWKEYE NOTEABLES
- Schaake’s six birdies are the most for Iowa through 36 holes; the Hawkeyes have recorded 22 birdies this week.
- Sophomore Mac McClear is 1-over par on par threes with a 3.13 stroke average; that ties him for eighth on the individual leaderboard. Alex Schaake is tied for ninth on par-five holes at 2-under par (4.75).
- Iowa will be paired with Purdue and Marquette on Tuesday.
