IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America team.
Iowa was one of 426 schools to receive the award for the spring semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their spring grade point averages.
With a team GPA of 3.46, the Hawkeye women have earned the honor in 17 consecutive seasons. The men’s squad posted a 3.15 team GPA.
“[Head Coach Mark Long] faced as big of a challenge as any coach in the country, but still brought Iowa success in the pool and classroom,” said CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. “These are some of the best ambassadors of Iowa and Athletic Director Barta, President Harreld, and Professor Liz Hollingworth (Faculty Athletic Representative) can and should be proud of these 57 men and women.”
