Boal Named Associate Head Coach

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa field hockey assistant coach Michael Boal has been promoted to associate head coach. The announcement was made on Monday by head coach Lisa Cellucci.

“I am so pleased to announce Michael’s promotion to associate head coach,” Cellucci said. “He is a fantastic technician and tactician, who has had such a positive impact on our on-field development. His video analysis skills are second to none, and have been crucial in helping us win Big Ten championships and most recently advance to the NCAA Final Four. Michael has proven over our time together his commitment to building the tradition of excellence within this program. It is a privilege to work alongside him every day and I look forward to continuing the great momentum our group has created.”

Boal is entering his eighth year on the Iowa sidelines. Boal has helped the Hawkeyes win the 2019 Big Ten regular season and tournament, finish Big Ten Tournament runners-up in the 2018, and compete in the last three NCAA Tournaments, including advancing to the program’s 12th Final Four in 2021.

“For the past seven years, it has been my honor to be part of this prestigious program,” associate head coach Michael Boal said. “I am so grateful to Lisa for her leadership and guidance, and I look forward to continuing to serve our student athletes and upholding the Iowa tradition of excellence.”
