CEDAR FALL, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team tied Drake, 3-3, in a nine-inning contest on Saturday afternoon at the Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex.
Breanna Vasquez got the start for the Hawkeyes, hurling five innings and striking out five while allowing one earned run. Kat Serna allowed two earn runs over two and two thirds innings striking out one. Denali Loecker pitched one and one third innings without allowing a hit or a walk.
Iowa tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning after back-to-backs doubles by Nia Carter and Grace Banes.
Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth Rylie Moss scored on a wild pitch to cut the Drake lead to one. Tristin Doster singled through the left side to plate Kate Claypool and tie the game.
