1: The Hawkeyes are 23-4 in their last 27 trophy games (includes bowl games) and 20-4 in their last 24 rivalry trophy games (Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin).
2: Iowa has three wins over ranked opponents (vs. #17 Indiana, 34-6; at #9 Iowa State, 27-17; vs. #4 Penn State, 23-20) and has won six straight against ranked opponents overall. Only Alabama (9) has more consecutive wins over ranked opponents.
3: Iowa ranks second in the Big Ten and ties for third in the country in scoring defense (14.6). Iowa’s total defense (301.3) ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 13th in the country. Iowa’s rush defense ranks third in the Big Ten and seventh in the country (89.9).
4: Iowa leads the country in interceptions (16) and takeaways (21) and ranks third in turnover margin (+15). The Hawkeyes have 80 interception since 2017, more than any team in the country. Nine different Hawkeyes have at least one interception this season.
5: C Tyler Linderbaum was named a midseason first-team All-American by the Associated Press, Sporting News, CBS Sports, and The Athletic. Linerbaum has made 28 consecutive starts at center. Iowa is 22-6 during that span.
6: P Tory Taylor ranks fourth in the Big Ten averaging 46.2 yards per punt. Taylor has 12 punts of 50 or more yards, including a career-long 69-yard punt at Iowa State in Week 2. Twenty-one of his punts have been downed inside the 20 this season. Taylor was recognized as a first-team midseason All-American by The Athletic.
7: QB Spencer Petras owns a 12-3 record as Iowa’s starting quarterback, the second best winning percentage by a starting quarterback in program history (Brad Banks, 11-2, .846). Petras’ 31.6 points per game (2020-21) is the highest average by a Hawkeye starting quarterback since Banks (36.6, 2002).
8: K Caleb Shudak has connected on 11-of-13 field goal attempts and is good on all 23 PAT tries. He connected on career highs in field goals (3) against Maryland and Penn State. He has a team-high 56 points, eighth in the Big Ten. Shudak has 23 touchbacks on 39 kickoffs.
9: LB Jack Campbell is tied for third in the Big Ten with 67 tackles and was named a second-team midseason All-American by The Athletic. He had a career-high 18 tackles in Iowa’s Week 4 win against Colorado State, earning B1G Defensive Player of the Week honors.
10: University of Iowa Moon Family head football coach Kirk Ferentz is one 16 head coaches named to the Dodd Trophy Midseason Watch List. Ferentz has been named Big Ten Coach of the Year four times (2002, 2004, 2009, 2015). He was named the Woody Hayes, Eddie Robinson, and Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year in 2015.
