Healy, McKee Receive Big Ten Sportsmanship Recognition

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Big Ten Conference announced its postseason cross country honors on Monday morning. Two Hawkeyes received Big Ten Sportsmanship Awards – senior Noah Healy and freshman Brooke McKee.

The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. They must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

For Healy, a native of Frankfort, Illinois, this is the second conference sportsmanship accolade of his Hawkeye career, also earning the designation in 2019. Healy has scored points for Iowa in all five races this season. He led the Hawkeyes at the Gans Creek Classic with a top-five finish and set a new 8,000-meter personal-best time (24:08.4).

McKee, a Johnston, Iowa, native, earned her first Big Ten Sportsmanship honor of her career. McKee has scored points in all four races that she has competed for the Hawkeyes this season. She was the top-finisher for Iowa (15th) at the Bradley Pink Classic, leading the Hawkeyes to a runner-up finish while setting a 6K personal-best time (21:26.5). McKee also led the Hawkeyes at the Big Ten Championships, finishing 52nd.

Iowa hosts the NCAA Midwest Regional at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City, Iowa, on Friday morning. Running is set to begin at 11 a.m. (CT).
